Traffic and Pedestrian Refuge Islands

The Road-Pod, is a precast Concrete Modular system (patent applied for) for use as Traffic and Pedestrian Refuge Islands. It offers a very cost effective off-site solution, with significant savings on cost, minimising traffic delays, helps in substantially reducing site time spent in danger and enhance safety of pedestrians.

Product features and benefits

A typical unit can be installed over a period of 6-8 hours, with minimum traffic management, compared to 2-3 days with traditional on-site methods using kerbs and in-situ concrete. The design takes into consideration the new Road Traffic Act, Department of Transport and the Design manual for Roads and Bridges.

The Road-Pod system is available in a range of sizes to suit the various applications. There are five types of arrangement, from 1.2 m to 2 m in width and a number of island combinations. The units come complete with illuminated bollards, high level columns, cast-in tactiles and lifting points. The weight ranges from 280 kg to 1.5 tonnes.
