Technical - Service Protection Access Ducting & Covers

Selection
To select the correct combination of trough and lid, the following points regarding the installation should be considered before referring to the CG and LT Access Ducting Selector Charts.
- Internal dimensions of duct, to house the services together with sufficient working space to permit installation, maintenance and future additions.
- Location of Access Ducting and types and frequency of traffic it will meet during its service life.
- Weight constraints imposed by the need to remove the lid to gain access to the ducting at a future date.
- The need for lifting inserts/anchors in the lid to enable attachment of mechanical handling devices to gain access to the ducting at a future date.

Trafficking Application Classes
Indicates that a product is suitable for a particular application.
Class 1 Pedestrian areas e.g. footways, walkways and cycle tracks.
Class 2 Private driveways and grassed areas e.g. parkland maintained with mowing equipment.
Class 3 Car parks and access roads subject to occasional commercial vehicle traffic e.g.
Water and Sewage Treatment Works.
Class 4 Lorry parks and kerbside (non public highways) i.e. All road going vehicles at 15 mph max.
NOTES: Select next higher grade of unit if channelised trafficking or an excessive amount of commercial traffic is anticipated.
Serviceprotection CG/LT Access Ducting requires similar trafficking performance to linear drainage.
Loading test data and trafficking application classes are based on a linear drainage standard, DIN 19580, which forms the basis of a draft European Standard. Units have been subjected to test loads from 15kN (Class 1) up to 400 kN (Class 4).
